Introduce

Geological science is a study that examines the formation, evolutionary processes, and changes of minerals and rocks, which are substances that make up the planet Earth, and geofluids such as groundwater in the subsurface. Recently, geological disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and landslides are increasing, and the role of geologists in responding to climate change is becoming more important. In addition, mineral and groundwater resources are natural resources that are indispensable for people's lives and the national economic development, and countries around the world are striving to develop technologies for securing and preserving mineral and water resources. Geological science requires a variety of geological knowledge and analysis methods to understand the process of formation and circulation of matter, structural evolution, and changes in crust and land surface based on basic sciences such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, and biology. This department aims to produce experts who have both theoretical and practical capabilities in the field of geology. The courses in the department are petrology, stratigraphic sedimentation, seismology, active fault and structural geology, seismicity, quaternary geology, chronology. Additionally, mineralogy, geochemical/geophysical exploration, hydrogeology, hydrogeochemistry, environmental geology are included for investigation, exploration and evaluation of mineral and groundwater resources.
